Who?
Hello, I’m Daniella Watson, a Health Psychologist, researcher and volunteer. I work at the intersect of climate change and mental health.
Where?
I am based in London, UK, working for Imperial College London.
I’ve worked and volunteered in the United Kingdom, South Africa, India, Virgin Islands, Ghana and the United States. I have also worked with teams from Burkina Faso, Afghanistan, China, Canada, Australia and teams across Europe.
How?
I am trained in qualitative and participatory methods such as conducting interviews, focus groups and community engagement activities, as well as conducting scoping and systematic reviews.
As a Health Psychologist I train health professionals, students and volunteers in ‘Healthy Conversations Skills’ so that they can better support someone to make a health behaviour change.
I am training to become an Acceptance and Commitment Therapist (ACT).
What?
I work with young people to co-create solutions to improve mental health impacts from climate change events in the Philippines and Australia and in the UK at Imperial College London. I also support the development of a global agenda on climate change and mental health based on dialogues across the world, including with ingenious people, young people and farmer and fishing people.
I completed my PhD in 2022 from the University of Southampton, UK. I specialised in social, behavioural and community engagement approaches to promote maternal and infant nutrition in communities in Burkina Faso, Ghana and South Africa.
I became a chartered Health Psychologist in 2022 through the Stage Two independent route hosted by the British Psychological Society and HCPC registered. I provided a portfolio of evidence in research, teaching and training, consultancy and psychological interventions.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I led on multiple consultancy projects commissioned by the UK government, city councils and national health organisations. I gained policy experience conducting policy and stakeholder analysis on interconception care opportunities (ways to support families between pregnancies).
I have volunteered with NGOs in the UK, India and the Virgin Islands supporting those seeking asylum, homelessness, women’s health services, hurricane relief and in schools.
Why?
I created this website to document my professionals and voluntary work through blogs and publications all in one place.
